In Boses Saga, there is a segment describing a wedding in which the fiddler Sigurd plays himself into a trance. The music was so powerful that nor the king or anyone with him could withstand the urge to join in, and they danced until their feet couldn't hold them.
Trance music is not a "new" phenomenon in any way. In fact, it might be one of the main functions music had in its beginning, and to this day, music can have a strong impact on those who listen! In my band, we have fallen victim to many a night-long jam session, and there is really nothing else like it!
